We bring life-saving relief in emergencies and use food assistance to build peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
Our Contribution to the UN Decade
The World Food Programme (WFP) significantly contributes to the UN Decade for Restoration by implementing integrated resilience and restoration initiatives across some of the world’s most vulnerable and degraded regions. Through projects that address soil and water conservation, reforestation, and regenerative practices, WFP actively combats land degradation, improves biodiversity, helps adapt to climate change and develops mitigation co-benefits, all while promoting food security and nutrition.
WFP’s restoration efforts go beyond ecological goals, aligning with community resilience and well-being objectives by enhancing livelihoods, empowering women and youth, and supporting economic stability. Often operating in protracted crisis settings, WFP combines ecosystem restoration with humanitarian and resilience-building efforts, creating sustainable foundations for long-term recovery and stability. Through partnerships with local communities, governments, NGOs and international organizations, WFP aims to restore landscapes while strengthening the resilience of vulnerable populations globally.
