About

Trees for the Future (TREES) is an international nonprofit working with smallholder farmers across sub-Saharan Africa to restore degraded land through agroforestry. Since 1989, TREES has helped farming families establish Forest Gardens—diverse, sustainable plots of trees, crops, and livestock that improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and secure long-term food and income sources. By combining regenerative practices with farmer-led training, TREES addresses some of the world’s most pressing challenges: hunger, poverty, and climate change. To date, TREES and its partners have planted hundreds of millions of trees, supported tens of thousands of farming families, and built a scalable, nature-based solution that strengthens communities and the environment alike.
