Our mission

One to two hectares at a time, WeForest works with hundreds of smallholder farmers in Zambia's Copperbelt to use Assisted Natural Regeneration to transform degraded farmlands into Miombo woodlots. Farmers are provided with training and tools to diversify into forest-friendly activities such as honey production, chicken farming or vegetable gardening to replace the incomes they once earned from charcoal production. These provide households with sustainable sources of income as they grow and protect these forests, while also supporting biodiversity and restoring ecosystem health.
