Our mission
ReforestArg is an Argentine non-profit working to restore degraded and fire-affected native forests in Patagonia. Our mission goes beyond planting trees: we work to bring back functioning ecosystems, biodiversity and the connection between people and nature.
We restore priority landscapes using native species, from seed collection and plant production to planting, geospatial traceability and long-term ecological monitoring. Our work is developed together with local communities, volunteers, public institutions, companies and civil society partners.
We also strengthen the people and systems that make restoration possible over time, through environmental education, practical training, local employment and knowledge-sharing. From our restoration hub in Cholila, Chubut, we are building long-term capacity for native plant production, monitoring and field implementation across Patagonia.
For us, restoring a forest means recovering everything that lives within it.

Since 2017, ReforestArg has restored 654 hectares of degraded native forest in Patagonia through the planting of 536,693 native trees, primarily in fire-affected landscapes of the Andean Patagonian Forest.
Our work focuses on long-term ecosystem recovery, using native species and combining planting with monitoring, geospatial traceability and adaptive management. This contributes to biodiversity conservation, forest resilience and the recovery of ecosystem structure and function. ReforestArg also monitors survival, growth, mortality causes and site conditions to improve restoration effectiveness over time.
The initiative has also generated strong social and local economic impacts. To date, 746 people have participated as volunteers and 57 people have worked in paid restoration-related roles. Through field activities, environmental education and practical training, ReforestArg strengthens local skills in native plant production, planting, monitoring and restoration planning.
By restoring native forests, creating local employment, mobilizing citizens and strengthening long-term restoration capacity, ReforestArg contributes simultaneously to addressing biodiversity loss, climate change and the degradation of ecosystems in Patagonia.
