Our mission
Since 2011, our initiative has been working with the Platbos Forest Reserve & the Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat to restore Africa's southernmost forest. We combine invasive plant management, natural regeneration management, and direct planting — and have already planted 70,000 indigenous tree seedlings across 20 hectares of land. Restoration of the Uilenkraal Valley will help mitigate climate change, improve soil and water quality, decrease fire risk and support biodiversity, including the endangered western leopard toad, which is endemic to the coastal lowlands of the south-western Cape.
