Our mission
Global Forest Generation (GFG) unites local leaders and their communities across national borders to bring lost and degraded forest ecosystems back to life.
Contribution to the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration
Global Forest Generation is powering the largest ecosystem restoration initiative in South America, Acción Andina, helping to regenerate forests, protect the region's water resources, and ensure communities stay resilient in the face of climate change. Our goal is to make a substantial positive impact upon the world’s most critical yet neglected ecosystems, keeping our earth habitable for future generations.
To date, Acción Andina has:
- Empowered 33 local conservation leaders long-term from 15 local organizations, implementing 23 landscape level restoration projects across five Andean countries.
- Engaged 105 local communities and over 30,000 people actively involved in restoration activities.
- Brought 5,575 hectares under active restoration across more than 450 reforestation sites, with approximately 10 million native trees planted.
- Brought 11,253 hectares under active protection through legally protected areas, impacting over 50 IUCN-listed species.
