Our mission
Taking Root's CommniTree program is the largest reforestation initiative in Nicaragua, and the largest Plan Vivo certified project in the world. The project has planted more than 10 million native trees, which will sequester 1.5 million tonnes of carbon and provide over US$6 million to local farmers over 10 years. Together we plant and grow trees on their land in ways that support their existing farming practices while storing carbon and enhancing ecosystem services. Progress is monitored and verified through the FARM-TRACE platform, which combines local, satellite, and machine learning data.
