Our mission
Since 2006, we have been working in southern Belize to restore and replenish coral reefs. Our strategy allows us to map, propagate and monitor resilient species of coral, which are then cross-fertilized at targeted sites to promote genetic diversity — and long-term resilience — of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Coastal community members have been key to our success, who work with us to implement, monitor, and protect our nurseries, outplanting sites, and natural reefs. Together we aim to ameliorate the damage caused by bleaching events and help communities reduce pressure on the reefs.
