Our mission

Peatlands comprise nearly 20% of Russia's land area, and their restoration is increasingly recognized as critical for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fire risks. Our joint Russian-German project aims to return degraded peatlands to their original ecosystem type through rewetting and blocking drainage sites. We also promote paludiculture — the sustainable cultivation of useful plants that thrive in waterlogged conditions — to ensure that local communities benefit from restoration, and have the knowledge they need to maintain these unique landscapes for decades to come.
