Our mission
Preventing fires in peatlands is key to protecting these precious carbon stores and biodiversity hotspots. Our initiative is restoring Sebangau National Park, Borneo's largest lowland rainforest and home to the clouded leopard, sun-bear, and the world’s largest protected population of orangutans. We're empowering communities to restore burnt peatlands by planting 1 million native trees in 5 years. Planting is done in tandem with peat rewetting by blocking drainage channels. As well as these direct interventions, we work to expand local fire fighting networks.to prevent blazes from spreading.
