Our mission

Our initiative is the largest adaptation project in Gambia. Large-scale ecosystem adaptation, including the restoration of degraded forests, mangroves and agricultural lands, is necessary to improve the climate resilience of rural communities, many of whom are among the poorest in Africa. In addition to directly supporting the livelihoods of 11,550 households and indirectly supporting another 46,200, the return of forests is hoped to one day herald the reintroduction of elephants to the country.
